Prepositions Of Time And Place

Image
This lesson plan will show you how to apply your grammar: Mark- " Hi, I haven't seen you in ages!, how have you been?". Sam- " Well thanks, yes it's been too long, why don't we catch up over a coffee?". Mark- " Sounds great, are you free next Tuesday?". Sam- " Ok, where would you like to meet?". Mark- " How about the little coffee shop next to Zara?". Sam- " Can we meet at 1pm because I have to get back to work?". Mark- " Perfect, so I will see you at the coffee shop at 1pm on Tuesday!". My classes are designed around conversation, not books! If you want to try a different approach to learning contact me today. Classes are adapted to different levels and are designed around your needs.

Formal/ Informal Structures

This is a good example of the different structures used in the English language. More and more business are adopting a much more informal working environment. So this type of lesson has never been as important, if you feel that you need help with your conversational skills then contact me today!!

Coffee

Image
This may be useful just for practice, remember that sentences that reflect a request start with a slightly raised voice tone. Nearly everyone of my classes reflect role play .... This develops confidence and decreases processing time allowing the student to respond at speed to various questions. The student is placed in situations where they have to think in a second language rather than translate from a first to a second language. Coffee shop: Hi, what can I get you? Good morning, what would you like? What would you like? Ordering a coffee: Good morning Could I have a coffee: Black no sugar Black with one sugar Black with two sugars White with one sugar White with two sugars White but milky Strong( not a lot of milk) Extra large Large Medium/ regular Small Additional vocabulary: Please Thank you To go/ take away To have here To drink in Glass Cup Cream Extra Sweetener Spoons Refill Another ........

Goals And Objectives

Image
Setting realistic goals will help you with your study, my advice is to consider a very simple analogy; if you set a goal of achieving 4 targets a day ( speaking, listening, reading and writing). Each one of these components only taking 15 min then you will be able to remain motivated and will have a more effective study programme. Prior to taking classes with me, most of my students have been forcing themselves to complete up to 2 hours of study per day which is fantastic however they did not have a study plan, nor the motivation to keep that pace for a long period of time eventually proving to be nothing more than a chore. Study planning need not be complicated, if you would like help to design a plan then contact me today, I have 4 spaces left for my September course which has a focus on developing conversation, speed of speech and pronunciation. If you think that I can help with your study, promotion, new job or new life in another country, then contact me today! Classes are ...

Listening Skills

Image
If you are going to develop your listening skills then you will have to get used to different accents. The English accent (UK) varies from region to region throughout the UK. Platforms such as YouTube are one of the best resources for this type of activity. Here are a few different accents you can compare: Birmingham Manchester Sheffield London In my listening classes, audio sound clips are played through your computer, you are asked to take notes and answer questions about what you have heard. The purpose of these classes is to familiarise you with different accents, speed of speech, and voice tones. Most learners are more comfortable with developing their writing skills than their speaking and listening skills. In my opinion listening skills are as important as developing the others. Training yourself to listen to key information comes with practice and time. I attach a link to a website that I found useful to demonstrate the importance of this Skill. http:/...

Why Do We Need To Learn English?

There are many reasons as to why someone would consider learning English as a second language. Some have dubbed it the language of money, others have discounted it as a cultural invasion. The global economic climate has changed people's perceptions as more and more Europeans flock into Language Academies. The influence of music, movies and social networking pla tforms have changed perceptions, for many however the need to improve job prospects and create opportunity in the work place is probably a more credible motivator. The English language is considered the language of business and as such plays a considerable role in the process of Import and Export. The recession is now a period of business reform, making money has become more complex and one of the most relevant points that could be made is the development of new positions in emerging markets where the English Language is a key factor. Here are a few reasons why you would consider learning English as a seco...
