There are two types of interviews; Traditional and Competency, most of us have not even experienced the later, however in 2012 Competency based interviews have become the preferred style for HR Managers. What's the difference between the two? Traditional interview structures usually involve an HR manager asking a series of questions with the objective of finding out whether your skill base and educational background match the requirements for the position that the candidate has applied for. CBI interviews require you to justify your experience and demonstrate how your educational background could be applied in various presented scenarios. Key areas that CBI interviews examine are; personnel, interpersonal, motivational, decision making, people and organisational. The best way to practice for an interview is to prepare for it in sections. There are over 100 questions that interviewers commonly use at all levels and it would simply be impossible to discuss them all in this article, so I have picked a few of the most commonly used questions. The Introduction This is regarded as the most important question in the entire interview.the answers should sound natural and not scripted, kept short and summarised. Used as an answer to the question; " tell me about yourself", you are advised to limit your response to work related facts unless otherwise instructed. Confidence, eye contact and body posture all play a significant role which should be taken into consideration.
