The Two Types Of Interviews

Image
There are two types of interviews; Traditional and Competency, most of us have not even experienced the later, however in 2012 Competency based interviews have become the preferred style for HR Managers. What's the difference between the two? Traditional interview structures usually involve an HR manager asking a series of questions with the objective of finding out whether your skill base and educational background match the requirements for the position that the candidate has applied for. CBI interviews require you to justify your experience and demonstrate how your educational background could be applied in various presented scenarios. Key areas that CBI interviews examine are; personnel, interpersonal, motivational, decision making, people and organisational. If you require practice for either type of interview, whether it's for a new position or a promotion contact me today! Posted with Blogsy

Looking for a new job?

Before I qualified as an English Teacher, and long before I published my first children´s novel, I worked as a recruitment consultant in the west end of London for over 5 years. Its an added benefit when preparing students for job interviews. Here are some of the questions that I help you prepare answers for: 1. Can you tell me a little bit about yourself? 2. Why are you interested in working for this Company? 3. What do you know about our Company? 4. What skills do you bring to our company? 5. Do you consider yourself to be successful? 6. What are your Career goals? 7. Do you enjoy working as part of a team? 8. Would you describe yourself as a hands on or hands off manager? 9. Are you proactive or reactive? 10. What would your previous employer say about you? 11.  How important do you believe it is to work in a team? 12. What were the most difficult decisions that you have had to make? 13. Would you rather be liked or feared? 14. Describe your management style ...

The Interview

Most of my students are preparing for exams but they are also learning how to practice for interviews, I have dedicated lesson plans for both. Contact me today to find out more....

Job Interview

I provide you with specific text relating to an interview. We practice together in a role play scenario, this helps build confidence. Pronunciation is corrected at the end of every answer. If you are thinking of moving country, or you just want to have more opportunity in the future then simply contact me by e mail, Skype or the contact sheet provided in this blog. Looking forward to seeing you in class!!!

Job Interviews

Before I became a teacher and a writer, I worked as a recruitment consultant for five years in London. If you are learning English in preparation for a job interview, I can provide you with mock interviews to help build your confidence and practice in a role play.

Lesson Plans

These are designed around your needs. All lesson plans are sent one day before class so that you know exactly what subject we are going to discuss, and the objectives of that lesson. Support notes are sent to you during lessons as PDF attachments on Skype. If you are not used to having classes online, I invite you to try it with a 30 min trial to help you understand how the process works. It's actually easier than fueling a car and allowing time for a journey to a school. You learn more because there are no wasted minutes leaving you more time to focus on learning. Effective learning requires modern techniques and this is a relatively new teaching platform, I hope to see you in class.
